#151 Spendor SA1: $2,195 per pair Discontinued Estimated eBay
Pros: A small BBC-style monitor with a 6” ep38 polymer cone woofer and a 0.9” soft dome tweeter. Princeton’s 3D3A measurements show fairly consistent directivity (1.68 sound power DI deviation). Its 6.3 ohm minimum impedance is easy to drive.
Cons: Princeton’s data does not cover bass, so it has no preference score; the rating is estimated from that data and its size. Sensitivity is low at 85dB, and Spendor rates the bass only to 75Hz (±3dB). Spendor no longer lists it. Discontinued.
How it compares: Just above it: DIYSG HT-10 - $1947 cheaper, 6.3Hz higher bass extension (-3dB). Just below it: Klipsch Synergy SB-3 - $1970 cheaper, 9Hz higher bass extension (-3dB).
