Coverage note. Speaker Ranking currently covers 2 Spendor models across passive speakers. These are the products in our database, not a complete list of everything Spendor makes.
What this page covers. The Spendor models ranked here span passive speakers, including Spendor D1 and Spendor SA1. Use each model’s category position to compare it with alternatives of the same size and use case.
This page lists all 2 Spendor speakers ranked on this site across passive speakers. Each model is shown in the category where it competes, with its current rank and the size of that ranking.
Use the category position rather than the brand name alone: speakers from the same manufacturer can perform very differently by size, price and product family.

Large Size Bookshelf Speakers
Ranked #148 of 214 in Large Size Bookshelf Speakers - Spendor D1 Discontinued Estimated eBay
Older model: the Spendor SA1 (ranked lower, estimated 3.3/5).
Pros: The replacement for the Spendor SA1, a small sealed monitor with drivers from Spendor’s D7 flagship, a revised crossover and better bracing. Hi-Fi+ found it better than the SA1 in every respect, with more presence, body and immediacy.
Cons: No independent measurements yet, so its tonal balance and directivity can’t be compared with ranked speakers. 85dB sensitivity needs a capable amplifier, and Hi-Fi+ noted it lacks the scale of larger speakers. Discontinued.

Ranked #163 of 214 in Large Size Bookshelf Speakers - Spendor SA1: $2,195 per pair Discontinued Estimated eBay
Newer model: the Spendor D1, ranked higher, estimated 3.5/5 (also discontinued).
Pros: A small BBC-style monitor with a 6” ep38 polymer cone woofer and a 0.9” soft dome tweeter. Princeton’s 3D3A measurements show fairly consistent directivity (1.68 sound power DI deviation). Its 6.3 ohm minimum impedance is easy to drive.
Cons: Princeton’s data does not cover bass, so it has no preference score; the rating is estimated from that data and its size. Sensitivity is low at 85dB, and Spendor rates the bass only to 75Hz (±3dB). Spendor no longer lists it. Discontinued.
