#12 KEF T101: $650 per pair Discontinued eBay
Pros: An ultra-thin surround or satellite only 35mm deep, built to hang flat on a wall or stand on a slim pedestal, with a 1” aluminum tweeter and a 4.5” flat midrange/bass driver in a sealed aluminum cabinet. Audio Science Review found it plays louder than its size suggests before compressing, and it shares its drivers with the KEF T301c center. Measured bass extension of 196.3Hz (-3dB), with a measured sensitivity of 88dB.
Cons: Audio Science Review measured one of the most uneven responses it has tested: a boost centered near 880Hz, a dip through the 1kHz to 2kHz crossover region and a bright top end, for a preference score of -1.32 (3.30 with an ideal subwoofer). Bass rolls off at 196Hz (-3dB), so it depends on a subwoofer crossed over high, and impedance dips to 3.2 ohms. Discontinued.
