#23 JBL Synthesis SAM3HA: $1,500 each Discontinued eBay
Pros: A horizontal LCR from JBL’s Synthesis Three Array system with a 1” titanium compression driver on a constant-directivity horn between two 6.5” woofers. Published Spinorama data shows bass to 64.8Hz (-3dB) and about 43Hz (-10dB), and a preference score of 4.86 that reaches 7.37 with an ideal subwoofer. Measured bass extension of 64.8Hz (-3dB).
Cons: The only Spinorama data is low quality, digitized from a published chart. On-axis deviation is moderate (0.85). It is long discontinued and available only used.
How it compares: Just above it: Revel Performa C52 - $1000 more, 1Hz higher bass extension (-3dB). Just below it: KEF R2c - $200 cheaper, 2Hz lower bass extension (-3dB).
