#69 JBL Synthesis SAM1HF + SAM2LF: $8,000 per pair Discontinued eBay
Matching center: the JBL Synthesis SAM3HA (rated 4/5).
Pros: A three-way horn system from JBL Synthesis: a SAM1HF module with titanium and aluminium compression drivers on constant directivity horns, over a SAM2LF module with two 8” aluminium woofers. Sensitivity is high at 92dB. Measurements show an even listening window (0.27 deviation), for a preference score of 5.33 that reaches 8.16 with an ideal subwoofer. Measured bass extension of 84.9Hz (-3dB).
Cons: Bass rolls off at 84.9Hz (-3dB), so it is meant to be used with subwoofers. That data is low quality. It was sold through JBL Synthesis dealers and is no longer in the lineup. Discontinued.
How it compares: Just above it: Wharfedale EVO 5.2 - $2701 cheaper, 4Hz lower bass extension (-3dB). Just below it: Jamo Concert 8 - $1500 cheaper, 2Hz lower bass extension (-3dB).
