#8 JBL Performance PC600: $499.99 each Discontinued eBay
Pros: A three-way center with a 1” titanium dome tweeter, a 4” titanium inverted dome midrange and two 6” woofers, from JBL’s Revel-engineered Performance series. Published Spinorama data shows a listening window within 2.6dB from 300Hz to 5kHz and a smooth predicted in-room response (0.82), for a preference score of 5.24 that reaches 8.04 with an ideal subwoofer. 91dB sensitivity. Measured bass extension of 89.1Hz (-3dB).
Cons: The only Spinorama data is low quality, digitized from a published chart, so the details are less certain than a full measurement. Bass rolls off at 89.1Hz (-3dB) and about 55Hz (-10dB), so it needs a subwoofer. It has long been out of production. Discontinued.
How it compares: Just above it: KEF R2 Meta - $1100 more, 4Hz lower bass extension (-3dB). Just below it: Revel Ultima2 Voice2 - $7500 more, 2Hz lower bass extension (-3dB).
