#35 Dayton Audio MK402X: $97.99/pair Parts Express eBay

Pros: A compact, inexpensive 4-inch passive pair with an upgraded crossover over the original MK402. ASR measured good on-axis smoothness of 0.193, excellent sound-power smoothness of 0.125, broad horizontal coverage to about +/-60 degrees, and a very well-damped bass alignment Q of 0.24.

Cons: The response tilts bright at +0.20dB per octave and predicted in-room smoothness is a poor 0.18. Estimated in-room extension is 52Hz, sensitivity is low for a passive speaker, and the 4-ohm impedance asks more of a small budget amplifier.

How it compares: Just above it: Klipsch RP-500M - $201 more. Just below it: JBL Studio 530 - $301 more, 1Hz higher bass extension (-3dB).
