#93 Dayton Audio MK402: $70 per pair Discontinued Estimated eBay
Newer model: the Dayton Audio MK402X, ranked higher, rated 3.4/5 (also discontinued).
Matching center: the Dayton Audio MK442 (estimated 2.9/5).
Pros: A small two-way bookshelf speaker with a 4” treated paper woofer, a 3/4” soft dome tweeter and a rear port tuned to 50Hz. Dayton rates it down to 60Hz, low for a 4” speaker.
Cons: Audioholics’ measurements stop at 200Hz, so it has no preference score; the rating is estimated from that data and its measured successor, the MK402X, which revised the crossover. Sensitivity is low at 84dB with a 4 ohm load, so it needs more amplifier power than most small speakers. Discontinued.
Related speakers: Dayton Audio MK442.
