#102 Bowers & Wilkins Nautilus 802: $8,000 per pair Discontinued eBay

Newer model: the Bowers & Wilkins 802 D4, ranked lower, estimated 3.6/5.

Pros: A three-way floorstander with a 1” aluminium dome tweeter in B&W’s tapered Nautilus tube, a 6” Kevlar FST midrange in its own Marlan head and two 8” paper/Kevlar woofers. B&W’s own Spinorama data shows a smooth listening window (0.31 deviation) and deep bass, 44Hz (-3dB) and about 24Hz (-10dB), for a preference score of 5.43 that reaches 7.03 with an ideal subwoofer. Sensitivity is 91dB.

Cons: That data comes from B&W itself and has not been independently verified. The on-axis response is rougher than the listening window (1.50 average deviation). It weighs 70kg each. Produced 1998 to 2004; the line continues today as the 802 D4. Discontinued.
