#23 Electro-Voice EVC-1082: $1,074.95 Passive B&H eBay
Pros: Vendor measurements give preference scores of 2.27 standalone and 5.02 with an ideal subwoofer, the best of the EVC models here, and bass reaches 67Hz (-3dB) and about 56Hz (-10dB), deep for an 8-inch cabinet. The rotatable waveguide lets it mount vertically or horizontally. Measured bass extension of 67Hz (-3dB).
Cons: The listening window spreads across a 4.2dB band, so the tonal balance changes off axis. Sensitivity is a modest 91dB with a 120dB maximum, and it is passive, so it needs an amplifier.
How it compares: Just above it: RCF ART 708-A MK5 - $576 cheaper. Just below it: Fulcrum Acoustic P8.
