TRN ST2 - ranked #1063 of 1398 In-Ear Headphones · Editor's rating 3.1/5

#1063 TRN ST2: $13.80 Discontinued eBay

Pros: A budget hybrid with one dynamic driver and one balanced armature at around $14, whose bass and midrange stay within 2 dB of target with sub bass reaching to 20 Hz, and 107 dB sensitivity runs from any phone.

Cons: Treble from 8 to 12 kHz sits about 9 dB above target, with peaks over 10 dB from 8.4 to 11.5 kHz after a dip near 6 kHz, so it sounds bright and sibilant. Deviation is high at 3 dB, and it is discontinued.

Frequency Response

How the TRN ST2 measures across the audible range, against the Harman in-ear target that most listeners prefer in blind tests. Where the line sits above the target that range sounds louder (more bass, brighter treble), below it quieter. The curve is the median of 3 independent measurements, so one odd sample or rig cannot skew it, and both lines are shifted so their 500 Hz to 2 kHz average sits at 0 dB.
