#380 FiiO JT3: $69.99 Amazon $69.99 eBay
Pros: An inexpensive open-back headphone with a large 50mm dynamic driver and a built-in microphone, so it doubles for calls and gaming chat. Its 80 ohm impedance and 97 dB/mW sensitivity still let a phone or laptop drive it to usable levels. The tuning suits listeners after a warm, bassy sound, with extension held within 6 dB of target down to 20 Hz.
Cons: In 2 hobbyist measurements on squig.link it scores only 50 for preference, with bass nearly 5 dB and low mids about 3 dB over target, which clouds vocals and makes the sound heavy. Treble is jagged, with an 8.8 dB peak near 5.5 kHz that adds harshness next to an 8.8 dB dip near 8.9 kHz that dulls cymbals, and the HyperX Cloud II rates higher for less money. The open back leaks sound and offers no isolation.
