Short answer: the S89, for $67.56 more. It ranks #19 of 113 boombox speakers at $193.58; the ZE01 ranks #38 at $126.02.
The complaints are nearly identical: a rolled-off top end and clarity that isn’t as good as better speakers. The S89’s cons add that it’s on the heavy side and its bass EQ runs bloated and muddy.
Both trade on shared internals with other Zealot models. Our notes say the S89 likely shares internals with the Zealot ZE21, and the ZE01 appears to share internals with the S95, which gives their listed performance more credibility than a one-off entry would.
Buy the S89 for the higher ranking. Buy the ZE01 if the $67.56 saved matters more than nine ranking places.
