XDOBO Wow Max vs Tribit Stormbox Blast 2

The case for the XDOBO Wow Max: Big, loud and bass-heavy, with an eight-driver, 300W layout and bass rated down to 32Hz. The tradeoff: At low and mid volume the JBL Boombox 4 sounds better in the mids and highs; the Wow Max comes across slightly muted and bass forward there, with its midrange not aimed at ear level.

The Tribit Stormbox Blast 2 is the longer-running pick. Pretty deep bass. It is rated for 30 hours of battery against 8 for the XDOBO Wow Max. Watch for: Sounds quite muddy with the boosted lower and upper bass.

Buy the XDOBO Wow Max. It is rated higher for sound quality than the Tribit Stormbox Blast 2 and costs less, so only choose the other one for a particular feature it does better.

XDOBO Wow Max ranking card

Pros: Big, loud and bass-heavy, with an eight-driver, 300W layout and bass rated down to 32Hz. In side by side tests it sounded better balanced and clearer than the Zealot ZE21, with smooth mids and punchy yet deep bass, handled high volume better than the JBL Boombox 4, which gets screechy and drops bass at max, and clearly beat the Sony ULT Field 7 and W-King X20. Two wireless microphones are included, and it charges over USB-C at up to 20V.

Cons: At low and mid volume the JBL Boombox 4 sounds better in the mids and highs; the Wow Max comes across slightly muted and bass forward there, with its midrange not aimed at ear level. About 7 kg, and only a claimed 8 hours of battery.

Tribit Stormbox Blast 2 ranking card

Older model: the Tribit Stormbox Blast (ranked higher, rated 4.5/5).

Pros: Pretty deep bass. Measured bass extension of 40Hz (-10dB).

Cons: Sounds quite muddy with the boosted lower and upper bass. Boosted treble around 6kHz. Xbass mode makes it sound even more muddy. Nowhere near as neutral and balanced as the first Blast and a big downgrade unless you only care about max volume
