Short answer: the XDOBO Wow Max. It ranks #21 of 91 boombox speakers by sound quality, rated 3.9/5, at $206.09; the EcoXGear Defender ranks #74, rated 2.5/5, and costs $299.99, which makes this an easy call rather than a real tradeoff.
The XDOBO Wow Max is the better-sounding choice. Big, loud and bass-heavy, with an eight-driver, 300W layout and bass rated down to 32Hz. It plays in stereo from a single unit, unlike the EcoXGear Defender. The tradeoff: At low and mid volume the JBL Boombox 4 sounds better in the mids and highs; the Wow Max comes across slightly muted and bass forward there, with its midrange not aimed at ear level.
The EcoXGear Defender is the longer-running, lighter choice. A rugged 10 lbs (4.54 kg) outdoor speaker with IP67 protection, a floating design, a flashlight, bottle opener, aux input, USB-C power-bank output and claimed 25-hour battery life. It is rated for 25 hours of battery against 8 for the XDOBO Wow Max. At 10 lbs (4.54 kg) it weighs noticeably less than the XDOBO Wow Max at 15.4 lbs (7 kg). The catch: Its single front-facing driver layout has narrow dispersion: clarity and detail drop noticeably when you move off-axis, and the soundstage is limited.
Buy the XDOBO Wow Max. It is rated higher for sound quality than the EcoXGear Defender and costs less, so it is the default pick unless a specific strength of the other one matters more to you.

The Two Speakers In Full
XDOBO Wow Max: $206.09 Amazon eBay
Pros: Big, loud and bass-heavy, with an eight-driver, 300W layout and bass rated down to 32Hz. In side by side tests it sounded better balanced and clearer than the Zealot ZE21, with smooth mids and punchy yet deep bass, handled high volume better than the JBL Boombox 4, which gets screechy and drops bass at max, and clearly beat the Sony ULT Field 7 and W-King X20. Two wireless microphones are included, and it charges over USB-C at up to 20V.
Cons: At low and mid volume the JBL Boombox 4 sounds better in the mids and highs; the Wow Max comes across slightly muted and bass forward there, with its midrange not aimed at ear level. About 7 kg, and only a claimed 8 hours of battery.

EcoXGear Defender: $299.99 Amazon eBay
Pros: A rugged 4.54kg outdoor speaker with IP67 protection, a floating design, a flashlight, bottle opener, aux input, USB-C power-bank output and claimed 25-hour battery life. Independent testing found it gets very loud for its size, while its three ecoEQ presets let you choose a bass-heavy default, a more balanced indoor mode or a brighter outdoor mode.
Cons: Its single front-facing driver layout has narrow dispersion: clarity and detail drop noticeably when you move off-axis, and the soundstage is limited. The default setting can be over-bassy at lower volumes, while there is no app, precise EQ, battery indicator or multi-speaker party mode. Bass does not reach as deep as competitors.
