Short answer: the Zealot ZE51. It ranks #15 of 75 boombox speakers by sound quality at $296.39; the Turtlebox Grande ranks #56 and costs $730, which makes this an easy call rather than a real tradeoff.
What the Turtlebox Grande offers: 10-inch woofer. IP67 submersible shell with crush-proof ABS exterior. 158Wh battery provides ~3 days of playback. Bluetooth 5.4, party mode (100+ speakers). Watch for: They pretty much lie about all their specs and sound just okay in all youtube sound samples. Only 100w will never hit 126db at a reasonable measuring distance. Putting your db meter right against the speaker doesn’t count, 1 meter distance is the standard. Barely any bass for a 10” woofer. Overpriced and not worth it.
What the Zealot ZE51 offers: Cleaner sound and a wider stereo soundstage than the Zealot ZE41, with less distortion at high volume for better instrumental detail and clarity. Watch for: The Zealot ZE41 still wins on raw bass depth and price. Large and heavy like the rest of the boombox class, and clarity still isn’t up to dedicated hi-fi speakers.
Buy the Zealot ZE51. It ranks higher for sound quality than the Turtlebox Grande and costs less, so there is no real case for the other one.
