Short answer: the Tribit Stormbox Blast. It ranks #2 of 112 boombox speakers by sound quality (rated 4.5/5) at $179.99 and is still sold new; the Diamondboxx M3 ranks #76 (rated 2.8/5) and is discontinued, so it is only an option used.
The Tribit Stormbox Blast is the better-sounding, tougher choice. A boombox with bass and volume that rival bigger party speakers, quite neutral sound, and a 30 hour battery. It is rated IPX7, while the Diamondboxx M3 has no water resistance. It has an adjustable EQ, which the Diamondboxx M3 lacks. The tradeoff: Lacks a bit of detail compared to the top ranked speakers in other size categories, dip at 5.5kHz.
The Diamondboxx M3 is the longer-running pick. A compact, very loud boombox with a powerful amplifier and a choice of large battery packs. It is rated for 40 hours of battery against 30 for the Tribit Stormbox Blast. Watch for: Despite its output, bass does not reach as deep as the best large portables and can distort when pushed hard.
Buy the Tribit Stormbox Blast. It is rated higher for sound quality, and the Diamondboxx M3 is discontinued, so it is only available used.
