Short answer: the Tribit Stormbox Blast. It ranks #2 of 75 boombox speakers by sound quality at $199.99; the Diamondboxx M3 ranks #53 and costs $700, which makes this an easy call rather than a real tradeoff.
What the Tribit Stormbox Blast offers: Amazing speaker given its size, competes well with some speakers in the Party size class, bass almost as deep as a Partybox 100. Quite neutral in the default and xbass modes, but try Oluv’s EQ or Alan Ross’s EQ for a slightly more neutral sound. Oluv has mentioned v3.5 now uses his EQ as the defaults and sounds extremely good. 2 different light modes or can be turned off. Watch for: Lacks a bit of detail compared to the top ranked speakers in other size categories, dip at 5.5khz. Without the above EQ this speaker would rank around #4 in the rankings. The curved underside of the handle makes it a little harder to grip and can be uncomfortable to carry long distances.
What the Diamondboxx M3 offers: An unusually compact 5kg high-output boombox, with a claimed 200W RMS Class A/B amplifier, 114dB maximum level, active crossovers and a choice of large battery packs. It has aux input, USB-C power and TWS pairing, while the aluminum heat sink is designed to sustain loud playback without thermal shutdown. Watch for: Despite its output, bass does not reach as deep as the best large portables and can distort when pushed hard. The treble-forward tuning can sound aggressive, there is no app or EQ to correct it, and the lack of a water rating makes it a poor match for poolside or rough-weather use.
Buy the Tribit Stormbox Blast. It ranks higher for sound quality than the Diamondboxx M3 and costs less, so the other one has nothing left to offer.
Water resistance is not close: the Tribit Stormbox Blast is rated at IPX7 (brief submersion), well ahead of the Diamondboxx M3 at no water resistance.
