Short answer: the ZE21, and the Blast 2’s own review argues against itself. It ranks #15 of 71 boombox speakers at $241.47; the Stormbox Blast 2 ranks #22 at $300, $58 more.
Our notes are blunt about the Blast 2: nowhere near as neutral and balanced as the first Blast, and a big downgrade unless you only care about max volume. It sounds muddy with boosted lower and upper bass, made worse by its own Xbass mode, plus boosted treble around 6kHz.
The ZE21 has its own real flaws, a rolled-off top end and a bass EQ our notes call bloated and muddy, but it isn’t being measured against a well-regarded predecessor it fails to live up to the way the Blast 2 is.
Buy the ZE21 for the lower price and higher ranking. Buy the Blast 2 only if raw max volume is the single priority, and even then, check the original Stormbox Blast first, since our notes prefer it outright.

Pros: Great value for the bass performance, play time and max volume in the boombox class, though the Zealot ZE41 now beats it out.
Cons: A little rolled off up top and not that balanced through the rest of the range. Clarity isn’t as good as better speakers. Bass EQ is bloated and muddy sounding
