Short answer: the Stormbox Micro 3 if you’re willing to spend more than double for deeper bass and don’t mind reaching for the EQ; the PocketGo if you want the cheapest, longest-lasting option. These rank #27 and #6 out of 47 small portable speakers, at $22.99 and $49.98, with the Stormbox Micro 3 costing $26.99 more.
The Stormbox Micro 3 goes deeper on bass than its own predecessor, let alone the entry-level PocketGo, and it out-ranks the PocketGo by a wide margin. That said, its own notes flag the default bass as thuddy and distorted out of the box - you’ll want to dial in the 9-band EQ to get it sounding right, something the PocketGo’s simpler 6-preset EQ doesn’t really need to overcome the same way.
The PocketGo is the cheaper, more battery-friendly pick. It’s a fraction of the Stormbox Micro 3’s price, and while its 20-hour battery is actually a bit shorter than the Stormbox Micro 3’s 24, both comfortably outlast a weekend without a charger.
Buy the Stormbox Micro 3 for genuinely better sound once you’ve EQ’d it. Buy the PocketGo if you’d rather spend a lot less and skip the tuning step entirely.

The Two Speakers In Full
Tribit PocketGo: $22.99 Amazon
Pros: Fuller low end than the JBL Go 5, despite the JBL’s clearer, more typical JBL sound. Costs about half the price of the JBL Go 5. Can stand, hang from its loop, or lay flat on its feet for flexible placement. About on par with the Soundcore Select 4 Go, and a touch louder at lower volumes. App support with signature EQ and customization.
Cons: Battery life isn’t the biggest for this speaker class. JBL Go 5 has better build quality plus lightshow, Auracast, and AirTouch. Loses more bass than the Soundcore Select 4 Go at maximum volume. Slightly nasal quality to the sound.

Tribit Stormbox Micro 3: $49.98 Amazon Aliexpress
Pros: Deeper bass than the last one by a little
Cons: Thuddy distorted bass by default, needs an EQ to fix. Hopefully Tribit fixes this in the DSP with an update. Treble
