Tribit Maxsound Plus vs Tribit Stormbox Flow

Last updated: October 3, 2026

Short answer: the Tribit Stormbox Flow, if you are buying new. The Tribit Maxsound Plus ranks higher than it (#22 vs #56 of 157 medium speakers, 4.1/5 vs 3.5/5) but is discontinued, so only consider it used; the Tribit Stormbox Flow is still sold new at $79.99.

Tribit Maxsound Plus vs Tribit Stormbox Flow

The Tribit Maxsound Plus is the better-sounding option. Use XBass mode for flattest frequency response and balanced audio reproduction. It keeps a wired aux input, which the Tribit Stormbox Flow lacks. It plays in stereo from a single unit, unlike the Tribit Stormbox Flow. The catch: Slightly less deep bass than modern class leaders.

The Tribit Stormbox Flow is the deeper-bass, longer-running option. Up to 30 hours of battery life: roughly double most rivals (~20-24 hrs with XBass on). Its bass reaches about 47Hz before falling 10dB, against 58Hz for the Tribit Maxsound Plus. It is rated for 30 hours of battery against 20 for the Tribit Maxsound Plus. It supports AAC Bluetooth, which the Tribit Maxsound Plus lacks. Watch for: Midrange and bass are weirdly recessed about 4db below 700Hz.

Buy the Tribit Stormbox Flow if you want one new; the Tribit Maxsound Plus is discontinued, so only look for it used.

Tribit Stormbox Flow: $79.99 Tribit eBay

Tribit Stormbox Flow ranking card

Pros: Up to 30 hours of battery life: roughly double most rivals (~20-24 hrs with XBass on). IP67 rated with a loose handle for carrying/hanging. Pairs with a second Flow for stereo; USB-C port charges your phone too. Measured bass extension of 47Hz (-10dB).

Cons: Not stereo. Midrange and bass are weirdly recessed about 4db below 700Hz. You need xbass mode for it to not sound like a clock radio with missing bass. You also can’t turn up the bass enough in the custom EQ modes to get it neutral, so it will sound bass light. Firmware 1.2.3 fixes the distortion issues with xbass mode on, but bass still sounds wobbly and uncontrolled.
