Short answer: the PA1, without hesitation. Both cost exactly $36. The PA1 ranks #51 of 135 medium speakers; the PA2 ranks #105. Our own cons entry for the PA2 puts it bluntly: “the Tozo PA1 totally outclasses it.”
The PA2 has more features on paper. IPX8 water resistance, a rugged fabric-wrapped design, 16 EQ modes in the app, and TWS dual pairing with a second unit all sound like upgrades over the plainer PA1. None of it saves the sound.
Bass is where the PA2 actually falls apart. Our notes describe real distortion and thudding as you turn the volume up, with bass that isn’t especially deep to begin with. The PA1’s bass mode, by contrast, gets flagged as pretty deep for the money, with the flattest response of its available EQ settings.
Same brand, same price, opposite results. This is one of the clearest cases on the site where more listed features point the wrong way entirely.
Buy the PA1. There’s no scenario here where the PA2 is the better choice at the same price.
