Soundcore Motion X600 vs Tribit Stormbox Blast (August 2026)

Short answer: the Stormbox Blast, and it’s a size class up for $50 more. It ranks #2 of 71 boombox speakers at $199.99; the Motion X600 ranks #19 of 76 large speakers at $150.

The Motion X600 is genuinely fussy to get right. Our notes say it needs a different EQ for each volume step, and even with the recommended Oluv EQ applied, the bass still isn’t very deep and the sound is described as a little unnatural. Without that EQ, it would rank closer to #20 in its own class.

The Blast is close to neutral out of the box. Quite neutral in its default and xbass modes already, with a reviewer EQ that Tribit eventually adopted as the firmware default rather than something you have to hunt down and apply yourself.

Buy the Stormbox Blast for a speaker that doesn’t need per-volume EQ tweaking to sound right. Buy the Motion X600 if you want to save $50 and don’t mind the extra tuning work.

Pros: Firmware 4.2.9 is a big improvement in sound quality over previous releases. Try this Oluv EQ for the best sound quality

Cons: Stock frequency response is wavy. Use spatial mode for best sound quality. Need a different EQ for each volume step. Dip in the upper bass around 120hz. Rising frequency response, treble a little hot. Would be ranked around #20 without the Oluv EQ. Even with the Oluv EQ the bass isn’t very deep and the sound is still a little unnatural.

Tribit Stormbox Blast: $179.99 Amazon

Pros: Amazing speaker given its size, competes well with some speakers in the Party size class, bass almost as deep as a Partybox 100. Quite neutral in the default and xbass modes, but try Oluv’s EQ or Alan Ross’s EQ for a slightly more neutral sound. Oluv has mentioned v3.5 now uses his EQ as the defaults and sounds extremely good. 2 different light modes or can be turned off.

Cons: Lacks a bit of detail compared to the top ranked speakers in other size categories, dip at 5.5khz. Without the above EQ this speaker would rank around #4 in the rankings. The curved underside of the handle makes it a little harder to grip and can be uncomfortable to carry long distances.
