Soundcore Motion Boom vs Tribit Stormbox Blast

Last updated: August 8, 2026

Short answer: the Motion Boom for value, the Stormbox Blast if you can stretch the budget. The Motion Boom is $109.99 and ranks #14 of 76 large speakers; the Blast is $199.99 and ranks #2 of 71 boombox speakers, a size class up.

The Motion Boom’s whole case is what it costs. 30W of bass-heavy output, a genuine 24-hour battery, and a buoyant waterproof design, all under $110. Our notes call it excellent budget-friendly value, and its only real knock is being less neutral and detailed than the top-ranked speakers in its class.

The Blast plays closer to the Party class than its price suggests. It reaches bass almost as deep as a JBL Partybox 100 at a fraction of the size, and with a reviewer EQ loaded it’s quite neutral. Without that EQ, our notes say it would rank closer to #4, so applying the preset matters more here than on most speakers.

Both are reviewer favorites for a reason. Alan Ross has compared these two directly more than once, and the throughline is consistent: the Motion Boom is the value pick, the Blast is the one that punches above its size class when tuned.

Buy the Motion Boom if budget is the priority. Buy the Stormbox Blast if you can spend the extra $90 for a genuinely bigger sound and don’t mind loading an EQ preset.

Tribit Stormbox Blast: $199.99 Amazon

Tribit Stormbox Blast ranking card

Pros: Amazing speaker given its size, competes well with some speakers in the Party size class, bass almost as deep as a Partybox 100. Quite neutral in the default and xbass modes, but try Oluv’s EQ or Alan Ross’s EQ for a slightly more neutral sound. Oluv has mentioned v3.5 now uses his EQ as the defaults and sounds extremely good. 2 different light modes or can be turned off.

Cons: Lacks a bit of detail compared to the top ranked speakers in other size categories, dip at 5.5khz. Without the above EQ this speaker would rank around #4 in the rankings. The curved underside of the handle makes it a little harder to grip and can be uncomfortable to carry long distances.
