Soundcore Boom 2 Plus vs Tribit Stormbox Blast (August 2026)

Short answer: the Stormbox Blast, by a wide margin. It ranks #2 of 71 boombox speakers at $199.99; the Boom 2 Plus ranks #26 at $169.99, $30 less.

The Boom 2 Plus has real upside once tuned. Our notes flag it as quite a bit lighter than most of the class and likely to move up once a proper EQ correction lands, but as shipped it’s a warm, rolled-off speaker with some upper bass boost.

The Blast already earns its ranking without waiting on a future EQ. Bass almost as deep as a JBL Partybox 100, a neutral default tuning, and a reviewer EQ that Tribit eventually adopted as the firmware default.

Buy the Stormbox Blast for the far stronger measured performance. Buy the Boom 2 Plus only if you want boombox size for closer to $170 and don’t mind the current tuning.

Pros: Quite a bit lighter than most of the other boombox size speakers. This speaker will likely move up as we get a good EQ tune that makes it a lot more neutral.

Cons: Warm tuning meaning a rolled off treble and some upper bass boost. Reasonably deep bass, but not as good as the top ranked.

Tribit Stormbox Blast: $179.99 Amazon

Pros: Amazing speaker given its size, competes well with some speakers in the Party size class, bass almost as deep as a Partybox 100. Quite neutral in the default and xbass modes, but try Oluv’s EQ or Alan Ross’s EQ for a slightly more neutral sound. Oluv has mentioned v3.5 now uses his EQ as the defaults and sounds extremely good. 2 different light modes or can be turned off.

Cons: Lacks a bit of detail compared to the top ranked speakers in other size categories, dip at 5.5khz. Without the above EQ this speaker would rank around #4 in the rankings. The curved underside of the handle makes it a little harder to grip and can be uncomfortable to carry long distances.
