Water resistance is the clearest gap. The Boom 2 Plus is rated IPX7, meaning it can handle brief submersion, while the Rave Party 2’s own review specifically flags a poor water rating at IPX4, splash resistance only. The Boom 2 Plus also pushes more power, 140W against 80W RMS (120W peak), and adds a companion app with Pro EQ and presets, something the Rave Party 2 lacks entirely.
Neither speaker has dialed in its tuning. Pros: Quite a bit lighter than most of the other boombox size speakers. This speaker will likely move up as we get a good EQ tune that makes it a lot more neutral. Measured bass extension of 39Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Warm tuning meaning a rolled off treble and some upper bass boost. Reasonably deep bass, but not as good as the top ranked.
