Both share the same brand-wide compromises. Neither is as neutral or bass-deep as the JBL Partyboxes they compete against, neither is stereo, and both charge from an external power brick rather than a standard cable.
The Go trades some volume for genuine portability. Our notes describe it as not as loud as the other Soundboks models, but it’s built to be more portable for vehicle adventures, with a swappable second battery available separately for $200 and an exceptional 40-hour rating at moderate volume.
Buy the Soundboks 3 if maximum output is the priority and the size doesn’t matter. Buy the Soundboks Go if you want the brand’s sound in a more portable package for less money.
There is a real gap in water resistance: the Soundboks 3 at IP65 (water jets) against the Soundboks Go, which has no water resistance.

Pros: Tied for the loudest battery powered speaker. Removable 40 hour battery. High efficiency drivers reach 2-3x the volume of typical speakers for the same wattage. Measured bass extension of 52Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Very large. Not as neutral or as deep of bass as the above Partyboxes. Not stereo. External power brick for charging. Discontinued; no longer sold by Soundboks, only third-party resale stock remains. Discontinued.

Pros: Exceptional 40-hour battery life at mid-volume (10 hours at full volume), swappable design (second battery $200 available). 7.8Ah Li-ion with external charging option and pass-through charging capability. 121dB max volume (Bass+ mode). Premium audio quality, durable ABS polycarbonate with rubberized bumpers. Portable enough for vehicle adventures. High efficiency drivers reach 2-3x the volume of typical speakers for the same wattage. Measured bass extension of 55Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Not as loud as the other Soundboks. Not as neutral or as much bass as the above Partyboxes. Not stereo. External power brick for charging. Discontinued; Soundboks has removed it from their lineup and the product page is gone. Discontinued.
