Short answer: the Sony ULT Field 5. It ranks #56 of 115 large speakers by sound quality, rated 3.5/5, at $268. The Xdobo X8 Max ranks #83, rated 2.9/5, at $105.99, $162.01 cheaper, a saving that is not big enough to make up the sound-quality gap.
The Sony ULT Field 5 is the better-sounding, longer-running option. A tough, waterproof party speaker with loud, bass focused output, an aux input, a power bank and a long battery. It is rated for 25 hours of battery against 15 for the Xdobo X8 Max. It supports LDAC Bluetooth, which the Xdobo X8 Max lacks. It links with other speakers (Party Connect up to 100 speakers), which the Xdobo X8 Max cannot. The tradeoff: It prioritizes bass and loudness over fidelity: reviews find the upper mids and highs subdued, with limited stereo separation and soundstage depth.
The case for the Xdobo X8 Max: A feature packed waterproof boombox with a huge battery, power bank output, and enough volume for outdoor background music. The tradeoff: The voicing is bass-heavy with thin, boosted highs that can turn harsh, and reviews report distortion rather than clean dynamics when pushed hard.
Buy the Sony ULT Field 5. It is rated higher for sound quality, and saving $162.01 with the Xdobo X8 Max does not make up for the sound-quality gap.
