Short answer: the Sonos Move 2. It ranks #28 of 115 large speakers by sound quality, rated 4.1/5, at $480. The Sony ULT Field 5 ranks #56, rated 3.5/5, at $268, $212 cheaper, which does not close the gap in sound quality.
What the Sony ULT Field 5 does well: A tough, waterproof party speaker with loud, bass focused output, an aux input, a power bank and a long battery. It supports LDAC Bluetooth, which the Sonos Move 2 lacks. It links with other speakers (Party Connect up to 100 speakers), which the Sonos Move 2 cannot. It has an adjustable EQ, which the Sonos Move 2 lacks. The catch: It prioritizes bass and loudness over fidelity: reviews find the upper mids and highs subdued, with limited stereo separation and soundstage depth.
The Sonos Move 2 is the better-sounding choice. A Wi-Fi and Bluetooth portable with warm, full sound, clear mids and a long battery for moving around the home. The tradeoff: Not very loud.
Buy the Sonos Move 2. It is rated higher for sound quality, and the $212 saving on the Sony ULT Field 5 is not enough to make up the difference.
