The Boombox 4 is the tougher and louder one for its size. It is IP68 against the Onn’s IPX4, measured about 115dB, reaches about 41Hz, and claims 28 hours from a removable battery. The Onn XL is the party package. It plays loud enough for a backyard with punchy bass, adds lights and a telescoping handle, and claims 16 hours. Its sound favors punch and a bright top end over refinement, some owners report distortion at high volume, and comparisons find its bass less deep than the JBL PartyBox 320.

Onn XL Wireless Party Speaker: $249.00 Walmart eBay
Pros: A compelling all-in-one party and karaoke package: dual 8-inch woofers, 240W claimed output, two included wireless microphones, dual mic/guitar inputs, karaoke effects and USB-A phone charging. It plays loudly enough for backyard use and has punchy bass; owners especially like the wheels, telescoping handle and colorful light effects. At 44 lb it is still a substantial cabinet, but the trolley design makes moving it far easier than carrying it.
Cons: Sound favors punch and a forward/bright top end over refinement. Independent comparisons and owner reports find the bass less deep and the overall balance less satisfying than the JBL PartyBox 320; several consider the far-cheaper Onn Large Party gen 2 the better sound-per-dollar buy. Some owners report distortion or static at high volume, and a few report wireless-mic pairing/dropout problems. Large (30 inches tall, 44 lb) and only IPX4 splash-resistant, not a speaker to leave out in rain.

Older models: the JBL Boombox 3 (rated 3.8/5), the JBL Boombox 2 (rated 3.5/5) and the JBL Boombox (rated 2.9/5).
Pros: Pretty insane output capability for the size. IP68 protection and Auracast pairing with other current JBL speakers. Measured bass extension of 41Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Pretty overpriced for the category. Better than the Boombox 3 mostly because there are more 7 EQ bands instead of just 3 and it can be better tuned. Try Oluv’s EQ for it. Out of the box sounds worse than the Boombox 3. No Aux input.
