Short answer: it comes down to price, because the two Minirigs are otherwise identical. The Minirig 2 with subwoofer and the Minirig 3 with subwoofer both deliver a very balanced sound, and both are not stereo with a buggy app. Nothing in the sound separates them.
Buy the Minirig 3 with subwoofer only if you find one used in good condition; both are discontinued, and it is the better rated of the two. For a new speaker, buy the Minirig 4 with subwoofer, which replaces the Minirig 3 with subwoofer.
