LG Xboom Go PL7 vs Soundcore Trance

Last updated: October 3, 2026

Short answer: both are discontinued, so this only matters if you are buying used, though neither ranks well in its class. Used, the LG Xboom Go PL7 is the better pick: it ranks #89 of 97 large speakers by sound quality (rated 2.4/5), against #92 (rated 2.1/5) for the Soundcore Trance. Both are rated below 3.0/5 among the 97 large speakers, so if sound quality matters, consider the onn Portable FM Boombox instead, ranked #26 at $74.83.

LG Xboom Go PL7 vs Soundcore Trance

The LG Xboom Go PL7 is the longer-running, lighter option. A 3.2 lbs (1.45 kg) portable with IPX7 protection, a claimed 24-hour battery, aux input, speakerphone capability, stereo pairing and Wireless Party Link. It is rated for 24 hours of battery against 18 for the Soundcore Trance. At 3.2 lbs (1.45 kg) it weighs much less than the Soundcore Trance at 7.7 lbs (3.5 kg). Watch for: Independent testing finds weak low-bass and top-end extension, a narrow soundstage and uneven off-axis response.

Why pick the Soundcore Trance: 80W power with up to 105dB output and BassUp technology. It has an adjustable EQ, which the LG Xboom Go PL7 lacks. Watch for: Hugely recessed midrange and treble.

Buy the LG Xboom Go PL7 only if you find one used in good condition; both are discontinued, and it is the better rated of the two. For a new speaker, start with the onn Portable FM Boombox instead.

LG Xboom Go PL7 ranking card

Pros: A 1.45kg portable with IPX7 protection, a claimed 24-hour battery, aux input, speakerphone capability, stereo pairing and Wireless Party Link. It plays fairly loudly for its size with few obvious artifacts, and its LED-rimmed passive radiators make it a practical, fun choice for casual outdoor listening.

Cons: Independent testing finds weak low-bass and top-end extension, a narrow soundstage and uneven off-axis response. The default Sound Boost processing can make the upper mids and treble aggressive; turning it off improves balance but does not transform it into a detailed or deep-bass speaker. It has no user EQ to properly tailor the result. Discontinued.
