Short answer: these are not really competing for the same job, so pick by feature, not by rank. The Gig XXL ranks #20 of 39 party speakers, and the Onn Medium Party Speaker Gen 2 ranks #45 of 75 boombox speakers. They are close in price, but they are built for different use cases.
The Gig XXL’s whole case is value. Our notes call it really amazing value for the money, though not quite as clean sounding as the top ranked speakers in its class and prone to muddy bass at high volume. It has no water resistance at all, has a short 8-hour battery, and skips party mode entirely, but it does add a dedicated guitar input alongside its karaoke microphone input with reverb.
The Onn Medium Party Speaker Gen 2 leans into features the Klipsch doesn’t have. It carries an IPX7 water rating against none on the Gig XXL, runs 20 hours of battery against 8, and includes a built-in FM radio with 16 presets. Our notes describe thunderous bass and music-synced LED lights, but also flag it as lacking detail compared to the larger Onn Large Party Gen 2 and not as deep in bass as that model.
Both share the karaoke basics: an aux input, a microphone input with an effect (reverb on the Klipsch, echo on the Onn), and TWS pairing. Neither has an app or adjustable EQ.
Buy the Klipsch Gig XXL if you want the better-regarded name and a guitar input, and you don’t need water resistance or long battery life.
Buy the Onn Medium Party Speaker Gen 2 if you want to use it outdoors or by the pool, want FM radio built in, or need it to run longer between charges.

Pros: A straightforward 8.2kg party speaker with a large 8-inch woofer, horn tweeter, aux and USB playback, guitar and microphone inputs, karaoke reverb, TWS pairing and a USB-A power bank. Independent testing confirms that it gets remarkably loud and gives EDM and hip-hop a lively, bass-forward character.
Cons: Bass is more warm than deep and can become muddy at high volume. There is no app or proper EQ beyond a Bass button, no water rating, and the claimed eight-hour battery life is short for an outdoor party speaker. It is a fun, simple option, but not the cleanest or most flexible choice.
