It ranks #38 of 113 powered bookshelf speakers by sound quality (rated 4.4/5) at $998 and is still sold new; the Kali Audio LP-6 ranks #53 (rated 4.3/5) and is discontinued, so it is only an option used. The Kali Audio LP-6’s replacement, the Kali Audio LP-6 V2, is rated 4.4/5.
The IN-8 V2 is a three-way monitor with a coaxial midrange and tweeter. That arrangement gives coherent imaging, and its 8-inch woofer reaches 44Hz before falling 3dB in Erin’s measurements, with low distortion at ordinary levels. Its front port lets it sit near a wall. On-axis, 4 to 5kHz sounds a little forward, so Kali recommends about 10 degrees of toe-out.
The original LP-6 is a discontinued two-way monitor that is still a strong used buy. Its 6.5-inch woofer reaches almost as deep, 43.9Hz before falling 3dB, and its waveguide gives it even off-axis sound. First-generation amplifier hiss can be distracting up close, and a port resonance adds bumps around 900Hz to 1kHz. The newer LP-6 V2 fixes the hiss.
Buy the Kali Audio IN-8 V2. It is rated higher for sound quality; the Kali Audio LP-6 is no longer sold new.

Pros: The IN-8 V2’s coaxial midrange/tweeter supports coherent imaging, and low distortion at ordinary levels complements its 7.30 ideal-subwoofer score. Measured -3dB extension of 45.4Hz provides useful bass; boundary settings assist placement. The front port allows placement near a wall without port noise problems. Measured bass extension of 44Hz (-3dB), with a measured sensitivity of 89dB.
Cons: The measured 3.0dB response span from 300Hz to 5kHz includes unevenness that can make some vocals sound forward. Bass and limiter behavior constrain high-level playback. These measurements apply to the V2, not the first-generation IN-8. On-axis, the 4 to 5kHz range sounds forward; Kali recommends about 10° of toe-out, and some EQ helps.

Pros: The original LP-6 measures 43.9Hz at -3dB and scores 6.33 with an ideal subwoofer. Its waveguide and placement controls make it a credible budget studio monitor, with useful bass for ordinary music listening. Measured bass extension of 43.9Hz (-3dB).
Cons: The measured 2.9dB response span from 300Hz to 5kHz is less even than the newer LP-6 V2. First-generation amplifier hiss can be distracting at short distances. Do not assume the V2’s noise improvements or measurements apply to this model. A port resonance adds bumps around 900Hz to 1kHz. Discontinued.
