Kali Audio IN-8 V2 vs JBL 4329P

Last updated: October 1, 2026

Short answer: the Kali Audio IN-8 V2. It ranks #26 of 68 powered bookshelf speakers by sound quality (rated 4.4/5) at $998 and is still sold new; the JBL 4329P ranks #45 (rated 4.1/5) and is discontinued, so it is only an option used.

Kali Audio IN-8 V2 vs JBL 4329P

What the JBL 4329P gets right: Genuinely full-range performance for a bookshelf-style speaker - anechoic response extends to 30Hz (measured F3 31Hz), reaching into the low 20s Hz range in-room depending on placement. The catch: No HDMI input, a real drawback if you want to run these directly off a TV’s ARC.

Buy the Kali Audio IN-8 V2. It is rated higher for sound quality, and the JBL 4329P is discontinued, so it is only available used.

Kali Audio IN-8 V2 ranking card

Pros: The IN-8 V2’s coaxial midrange/tweeter supports coherent imaging, and low distortion at ordinary levels complements its 7.30 ideal-subwoofer score. Measured -3dB extension of 45.4Hz provides useful bass; boundary settings assist placement. The front port allows placement near a wall without port noise problems. Measured bass extension of 44Hz (-3dB), with a measured sensitivity of 89dB.

Cons: The measured 3.0dB response span from 300Hz to 5kHz includes unevenness that can make some vocals sound forward. Bass and limiter behavior constrain high-level playback. These measurements apply to the V2, not the first-generation IN-8. On-axis, the 4 to 5kHz range sounds forward; Kali recommends about 10° of toe-out, and some EQ helps.

JBL 4329P: $4,500 per pair Discontinued eBay

JBL 4329P ranking card

Pros: Measured -3dB extension of 32.2Hz provides deeper native bass than the smaller 4305P. Integrated amplification and streaming make it convenient for a full-range living-room system, and its larger format is useful when scale matters. Measured bass extension of 31Hz (-3dB), with a measured sensitivity of 102.2dB.

Cons: The measured 4.5dB response span from 300Hz to 5kHz includes a notable midrange dip, so it is not as neutral as its size and price might suggest. Its 6.72 ideal-subwoofer score trails the 4305P. There is no HDMI connection for the simplest TV hookup. Discontinued.
