Last updated: August 9, 2026

Short answer: the JBL Xtreme 5. It ranks #2 of 75 large speakers at $349.95; the Vifa Oslo ranks #8 and costs $550, so there is not much of a tradeoff to weigh.

The case for the JBL Xtreme 5: Removable battery. The tradeoff: High priced.

What the Vifa Oslo gets right: Extreme treble details with decent bass. The catch: Dip at 270hz.

Buy the JBL Xtreme 5 if the ranking matters more than the price. Buy the Vifa Oslo if the price matters more than the ranking.

Pros: Removable battery. Quite deep bass. A fantastic sounding speaker

Cons: High priced. Some bass boost. A hole in the mid-upper bass which can’t be EQ’d out

Setup: Try this Oluv EQ for the most neutral sound

Vifa Oslo ranking card

Pros: Extreme treble details with decent bass. Full, natural, accurate sound at higher volumes. Rich, full bass from opposing 65mm woofers. Premium Kvadrat wool fabric with aluminum handle. 10 hour battery life.

Cons: Dip at 270hz. The Vifa Helsinki is cheaper and generally has a more neutral frequency response, I’d highly recommend getting one of those instead if you specifically want a Vifa. Not sure I can recommend this one generally these days, the Uboom L has 95% of the sound quality with more features and a way cheaper price.
