Short answer: the JBL Xtreme 5 for better sound quality, the Mifa Wildbox for the lower price. The JBL Xtreme 5 ranks #2 of 77 large speakers at $299. The Mifa Wildbox ranks #9 at $100, $199 cheaper.
The case for the JBL Xtreme 5: Removable battery. Quite deep bass, reaching well below 40Hz. A fantastic sounding speaker with excellent off-axis dispersion, a big step up from older JBL portables. Set against that: High priced. Some bass boost. A hole in the mid-upper bass which can’t be EQ’d out.
What the Mifa Wildbox gets right: A really neutral frequency response across the midrange. 6 different lighting modes, or turn off the lights with a long button press. The catch: Doesn’t seem to be available anymore. No app. The slightly boosted upper treble can be slightly fatiguing on-axis with certain songs.
Buy the JBL Xtreme 5 if sound quality matters more than the price. Buy the Mifa Wildbox if the price matters more than sound quality.

The Two Speakers In Full
JBL Xtreme 5: $299.00 Amazon Bhphotovideo eBay
Pros: Removable battery. Quite deep bass, reaching well below 40Hz. A fantastic sounding speaker with excellent off-axis dispersion, a big step up from older JBL portables. Beats the Soundcore Boom 2 and Tribit Stormbox Blast on bass depth and clarity. Plays clean at volume, unlike the JBL Boombox 4.
Cons: High priced. Some bass boost. A hole in the mid-upper bass which can’t be EQ’d out. Default EQ presets are weak (Signature is boring, Chill and Vocal are close to unusable) - needs the custom EQ to sound its best. Bigger and heavier than the Xtreme 4.
Setup: Try this Oluv EQ for the most neutral sound

Mifa Wildbox: $100 Discontinued Amazon eBay
Pros: A really neutral frequency response across the midrange. 6 different lighting modes, or turn off the lights with a long button press. You will need to upgrade it to the latest 2.11 firmware with a Windows PC, as it likely ships with 1.93. Sound quality and bass extension on previous firmwares wasn’t very good. To upgrade firmware, install the PC flashing tool and download firmware. With the speaker off, hold V+ Play V- at the same time to enter flashing mode. To check firmware, turn on the speaker, quickly press the M button 3 times, then quickly press the Play button 3 times (it can take a few tries).
Cons: Doesn’t seem to be available anymore. No app. The slightly boosted upper treble can be slightly fatiguing on-axis with certain songs. Some of the buttons can be confusing, “M” is the Bluetooth button and skip song is long press play, while repeat is double press play. The plastic case isn’t textured or rubberized like other speakers and some may find it feels cheap. If dropped it may break internally and sound strange. I’d recommend only buying it from a place with free returns just in case it was damaged in shipping. Discontinued.
