The Xtreme 2’s four drivers give a refined bass balance closer to studio monitors than typical portables, but it needs an external AC power brick and ranks #53 of 93. The Doss brings 32W, a 100dB max volume rating, a 10-hour battery, IPX4 splash resistance, a MicroSD slot and TWS pairing, though it sounds a little hollow.
Buy the Doss Soundbox XL new; the JBL Xtreme 2 is no longer sold new, so it only makes sense as a used find.
Water resistance is not close: the JBL Xtreme 2 is rated at IPX7 (brief submersion), well ahead of the Doss Soundbox XL at IPX4 (splashing).
