The Soundboks 4’s real advantages are battery and raw loudness, not tone. It is tied for the loudest battery-powered speaker in this class, with its own removable 40-hour battery against 18 hours for the 330. But our notes describe it as less neutral and less deep in the bass than the top Partyboxes, including this one, despite the higher price.
Everything else splits down predictable lines: the Soundboks 4 carries an IP65 rating against the 330’s IPX4, and includes SKAA wireless. JBL’s daisy-chain via Auracast only pairs with other JBL speakers, while Soundboks TeamUp links up to five Soundboks units.
Buy the JBL Partybox 330 unless outright loudness or battery life is the deciding factor. It ranks higher for sound quality and costs less.
Buy the Soundboks 4 if you specifically need the 40-hour battery, the IP65 water resistance, or the extra headroom, and are willing to pay more for it.

Pros: A highly complete rolling party speaker: removable battery, telescoping handle and wheels, light show, Auracast, USB-C lossless and optical inputs, plus dual mic/guitar inputs. It supplies a little more power than the JBL Partybox 310 and JBL Partybox Stage 320, while reviewers report better midrange clarity than the older JBL Partybox 310 and the same deep party-speaker bass.
Cons: It remains very large and heavy, and the sound improvement over the JBL Partybox Stage 320 is modest rather than transformational. JBL removed the dedicated mic gain/control knobs found on earlier models, a real drawback for frequent karaoke use. Do not upgrade from a JBL Partybox 310 or JBL Partybox Stage 320 just for the higher watt figure.

Pros: Tied for the loudest battery powered speaker. Removable 40 hour battery. High efficiency drivers reach 2-3x the volume of typical speakers for the same wattage. Measured bass extension of 52Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Very large. Not as neutral or as deep of bass as the above Partyboxes. Not stereo. External power brick for charging.
