JBL Partybox 300 vs Tribit Stormbox Blast 2

Last updated: August 9, 2026

These sit in different size classes, so this is not a straight ranking comparison. The JBL Partybox 300 ranks #8 of 44 party speakers at $300; the Tribit Stormbox Blast 2 ranks #22 of 70 boombox speakers at $300.

The case for the JBL Partybox 300: Exceptional sound quality with crisp, crystal clear highs and midranges, hard punchy bass without muddiness. The tradeoff: Hard to carry, too tall, drags on the ground.

What the Tribit Stormbox Blast 2 gets right: Pretty deep bass. The catch: Sounds quite muddy with the boosted lower and upper bass.

One note: the JBL Partybox 300 is discontinued, but it still ranks #8 of 44 party speakers, ahead of most of what is still sold new, so it is worth considering used.

Buy the JBL Partybox 300 at $300 if you want a party speaker. Buy the Tribit Stormbox Blast 2 at $300 if you want a boombox speaker instead.

JBL Partybox 300: $300 Discontinued

JBL Partybox 300 ranking card

Pros: Exceptional sound quality with crisp, crystal clear highs and midranges, hard punchy bass without muddiness. 2x 6.5” woofers + 3x 2.25” tweeters, bass boost function, 45Hz-20kHz frequency range. 18-hour battery with 10400mAh capacity. Multiple inputs (RCA, USB, 3.5mm aux, mic, guitar). LED light modes (meter/pulse/party). True Wireless Stereo pairing up to 2 units.

Cons: Hard to carry, too tall, drags on the ground. Max spl and bass extension are only as good as the Partybox 100. No real reason to ever get one, get a Partybox 100 instead. Note, JBL daisychain is not compatible with any other non-JBL speaker and is possibly a fully digital signal. Discontinued.

Tribit Stormbox Blast 2: $300 Amazon

Tribit Stormbox Blast 2 ranking card

Pros: Pretty deep bass.

Cons: Sounds quite muddy with the boosted lower and upper bass. Boosted treble around 6khz. Xbass mode makes it sound even more muddy. Nowhere near as neutral and balanced as the first Blast and a big downgrade unless you only care about max volume

Setup: Try the EQ from Alan Ross at this timestamp of his video
