JBL Partybox 300 vs Onn Large Party gen 1

Last updated: October 5, 2026

Short answer: both are discontinued, so this only matters if you are buying used. Used, the JBL Partybox 300 is the better pick: it ranks #10 of 44 party speakers by sound quality (rated 4.3/5), against #33 (rated 2.7/5) for the Onn Large Party gen 1. If you want one new, the JBL Partybox Club 120 ranks #6 at $349.95.

JBL Partybox 300 vs Onn Large Party gen 1

The JBL Partybox 300 is the better-sounding, deeper-bass option. Exceptional sound quality with crisp, crystal clear highs and midranges, hard punchy bass without muddiness. Its bass reaches about 40Hz before falling 10dB, against 60Hz for the Onn Large Party gen 1. It is rated for 18 hours of battery against 13 for the Onn Large Party gen 1. The catch: Hard to carry, too tall, drags on the ground.

The Onn Large Party gen 1 is the lighter choice. A genuinely useful feature set for a compact party speaker: FM radio, 3.5mm aux, USB-A phone charging, a mic/guitar input, lights, and Party Sync pairing. At 23.1 lbs (10.5 kg) it weighs noticeably less than the JBL Partybox 300 at 35.3 lbs (16 kg). It links with other speakers (Party Sync Mode), which the JBL Partybox 300 cannot. Watch for: Sound is not a strong reason to seek one out.

Buy the JBL Partybox 300 only if you find one used in good condition; both are discontinued, and it is the better rated of the two. For a new speaker, start with the JBL Partybox Club 120 instead.

Onn Large Party gen 1: $100 Discontinued eBay

Onn Large Party gen 1 ranking card

Newer model: the Onn Large Party gen 2, ranked higher, rated 3.9/5.

Pros: A genuinely useful feature set for a compact party speaker: FM radio, 3.5mm aux, USB-A phone charging, a mic/guitar input, lights, and Party Sync pairing. Its rolling 10.5kg cabinet, carry handle and claimed 13-hour battery make it easy to take to casual outdoor gatherings, and it can play louder than a typical small Bluetooth speaker. Measured bass extension of ~60Hz (-10dB).

Cons: Sound is not a strong reason to seek one out. Reviewer comparisons find limited deep bass (about 60Hz at -10dB), uneven mids and a boxy, strained presentation at high volume. It has no app or EQ, no water rating, and is discontinued; the newer Onn Large Party gen 2 is the more sensible choice when available.
