The 5040’s C3 driver profile gives smooth midrange integration and controlled cone breakup, but its free-field response has a noticeable scoop around 200Hz, about 6dB below the mean SPL. The HDI-3600 is the more even speaker with high 90dB sensitivity and very low midrange distortion, with a shelf down above 2kHz as the tradeoff.
Buy the JBL HDI-3600. It is rated higher for sound quality, and the $1,327.02 saving on the Q Acoustics 5040 is not enough to make up the difference.
