Short answer: the Vifa City for a balanced sound, the JBL Clip 5 for features. The City is quite detailed with balanced, controlled sound and clear vocals even at low volume rather than a bass-forward boombox voicing, though it has a dip at 1200Hz, does not boost bass at low levels and is not that deep of bass. The Clip 5 adds a custom EQ and a wider carabiner with thicker back padding than the Clip 4.
Buy the JBL Clip 5 new; the Vifa City is no longer sold new, so it only makes sense as a used find.
