Short answer: the JBL Charge 4 is the safer pick over the Flip 4’s battery failures. The Flip 4 has less bass than a Flip 5 and battery failures are common. The Charge 4 doubles as a power bank for charging phones and tablets, but it is not stereo and uses a single oval driver.

Buy the JBL Charge 4 only if you find one used in good condition; both are discontinued, and it is the better rated of the two. For a new speaker, start with the Earfun Uboom L instead.
