Short answer: the Klipsch Groove, if you are buying new. The JBL Charge 2 ranks higher than it (#83 vs #105 of 157 medium speakers, 3.2/5 vs 2.8/5) but is discontinued, so only consider it used; the Klipsch Groove is still sold new at $9.
The JBL Charge 2 is the better-sounding, longer-running pick. Doubles as a 6000mAh power bank. ~10-12 hour battery life. It is rated for 12 hours of battery against 8 for the Klipsch Groove. It links with other speakers (Connect+ up to 100 speakers), which the Klipsch Groove cannot. It plays in stereo from a single unit, unlike the Klipsch Groove. Watch for: Bass compression at higher volumes.
The Klipsch Groove is the lighter choice. Pretty balanced sound in a compact, splash-resistant form factor. At 1.7 lbs (770 g) it weighs noticeably less than the JBL Charge 2 at 2.4 lbs (1.1 kg). It supports AAC Bluetooth, which the JBL Charge 2 lacks. Watch for: Bass doesn’t go as deep as class leaders.
Buy the Klipsch Groove new; the JBL Charge 2 is no longer sold new, so it only makes sense as a used find.
