JBL Boombox 4 vs Zealot S95

Last updated: September 19, 2026

Short answer: the Boombox 4 for raw output, the S95 if you want better value for the money. The Boombox 4 ranks #19 and the S95 ranks #26 out of 75 boombox speakers, for $392.54 more.

JBL Boombox 4 vs Zealot S95

The Boombox 4’s own review is surprisingly blunt about its value. It calls the speaker pretty overpriced for the category and notes it actually sounds worse out of the box than the older Boombox 3, with its real advantage being 7-band EQ instead of 3 bands, meaning it needs manual tuning (a community EQ preset is specifically recommended) to sound its best. What it does deliver is pretty insane output capability for its size, backed by a 115dB max volume rating and 210W of AC power.

The S95’s tuning issues are milder but still real: its review describes it as a little rolled off up top and not that balanced through the rest of the range, with clarity that falls short of better speakers in the class. Its own review frames it as a good value for the boombox class overall, and notes it appears to share internals with the Zealot ZE01 but in a bigger case that goes deeper in the bass.

What the Boombox 4 adds: an IP68 rating versus the S95’s IPX6, a companion app with the aforementioned 7-band EQ, Auracast pairing, a removable battery, and more than double the battery life at 28 hours versus 12.

What the S95 adds: a standard aux input and USB playback, both missing from the Boombox 4, along with USB-C charging instead of an AC power cord.

Buy the S95 if you want reasonable boombox performance without paying a premium, and don’t mind a slightly rolled-off top end.

Buy the Boombox 4 if raw output, battery life, and IP68 durability matter more than value, and you’re willing to dial in the EQ yourself.

Pros: Pretty insane output capability for the size. Measured bass extension of 41Hz (-10dB).

Cons: Pretty overpriced for the category. Better than the Boombox 3 mostly because there are more 7 EQ bands instead of just 3 and it can be better tuned. Try Oluv’s EQ for it. Out of the box sounds worse than the Boombox 3. No Aux input.
