JBL Boombox 4 vs Yeahbox Sonic Boom Max 3

Last updated: August 21, 2026

Short answer: the JBL Boombox 4 for better sound quality, the Yeahbox Sonic Boom Max 3 for the lower price. The JBL Boombox 4 ranks #17 of 73 boombox speakers at $549.95. The Yeahbox Sonic Boom Max 3 ranks #38 at $228.99, $320.96 cheaper.

On the JBL Boombox 4 side: Pretty insane output capability for the size, with 7-band EQ for better tuning than the Boombox 3. The catch: It’s overpriced for the category, sounds worse than the Boombox 3 out of the box, and drops Aux input entirely.

What the Yeahbox Sonic Boom Max 3 gets right: 200W RMS (300W peak) true 3-way, 5-driver array. 111Wh (14.8V/7,500mAh) battery with fast charging up to 60W. Watch for: A budget import brand with limited independent testing - specs are manufacturer-claimed, and its water/dust rating is reported inconsistently across listings (IPX6 on Yeahbox’s own site, IP66 or IP67 on various marketplace listings).

Buy the JBL Boombox 4 if sound quality matters more than the price. Buy the Yeahbox Sonic Boom Max 3 if the price matters more than sound quality.

Pros: Pretty insane output capability for the size.

Cons: Pretty overpriced for the category. Better than the Boombox 3 mostly because there are more 7 EQ bands instead of just 3 and it can be better tuned. Try Oluv’s EQ for it. Out of the box sounds worse than the Boombox 3. No Aux input.
