Short answer: these sit in different size classes, so this is a purpose question as much as a ranking one. The JBL Boombox 4 ranks #19 out of 39 boombox speakers, while the Soundboks Mix ranks in its own party-speaker class at a higher price.
On raw output, the Boombox 4 is well ahead. Its pros call out pretty insane output capability for its size, backed by 210W AC power against just 72W for the Soundboks Mix’s single 10-inch woofer and tweeter. That said, the Boombox 4’s own cons are candid that it is overpriced for the category and actually sounds worse out of the box than the older Boombox 3, with a custom EQ preset on its own page recommended to fix that. It also drops aux input entirely.
The Soundboks Mix leans into durability and charging convenience instead of output. Its pros highlight IP65 dust and water resistance and 65W USB-C fast charging for its swappable battery, along with a longer 40 hour battery life against 28 hours for the Boombox 4. It also reaches a louder 121dB max volume rating on paper despite its much lower wattage. What it gives up is JBL’s IP68 rating for full submersion, aux input, TWS pairing, and an app with 7-band EQ, none of which it offers.
Buy the JBL Boombox 4 if raw output and app-based EQ tuning matter more than weatherproofing, and you’re willing to dial in the sound yourself.
Buy the Soundboks Mix if fast USB-C charging and stronger dust and water resistance matter more than outright loudness.

Pros: Pretty insane output capability for the size. IP68 protection and Auracast pairing with other current JBL speakers. Measured bass extension of 41Hz (-10dB).
Cons: Pretty overpriced for the category. Better than the Boombox 3 mostly because there are more 7 EQ bands instead of just 3 and it can be better tuned. Try Oluv’s EQ for it. Out of the box sounds worse than the Boombox 3. No Aux input.
