Short answer: the JBL Boombox 4 for better sound quality, the JBL Partybox On the Go for the lower price. The JBL Boombox 4 ranks #17 of 73 boombox speakers at $549.95. The JBL Partybox On the Go ranks #44 at $300, $249.95 cheaper.
On the JBL Boombox 4 side: Pretty insane output capability for the size, with 7-band EQ for better tuning than the Boombox 3. Set against that: It’s overpriced for the category, sounds worse than the Boombox 3 out of the box, and drops Aux input entirely.
The case for the JBL Partybox On the Go: Included wireless microphone. The catch: Poor water rating. Horrible battery life. Probably the worst sounding of the Partybox line.
Buy the JBL Boombox 4 if sound quality matters more than the price. Buy the JBL Partybox On the Go if the price matters more than sound quality.
If battery life is a priority, the JBL Boombox 4 is rated for 28 hours versus 6 hours for the JBL Partybox On the Go.
If water resistance matters to you, the JBL Boombox 4 at IP68 (extended submersion) holds up far better than the JBL Partybox On the Go at IPX4 (splashing).

Pros: Pretty insane output capability for the size.
Cons: Pretty overpriced for the category. Better than the Boombox 3 mostly because there are more 7 EQ bands instead of just 3 and it can be better tuned. Try Oluv’s EQ for it. Out of the box sounds worse than the Boombox 3. No Aux input.
