JBL Boombox 4 vs Diamondboxx M3

Last updated: August 21, 2026

Short answer: the JBL Boombox 4. It ranks #17 of 73 boombox speakers by sound quality at $549.95; the Diamondboxx M3 ranks #51 and costs $700, so there is not much of a tradeoff to weigh.

The case for the JBL Boombox 4: Pretty insane output capability for the size, with 7-band EQ for better tuning than the Boombox 3. The catch: It’s overpriced for the category, sounds worse than the Boombox 3 out of the box, and drops Aux input entirely.

What the Diamondboxx M3 gets right: 114dB output. 200W RMS (400W max) Class A/B amplifier with dual 4” woofers and active crossovers. Set against that: Not as deep bass as even the hyperboom. Bass distorted at high levels.

Buy the JBL Boombox 4. It ranks higher for sound quality than the Diamondboxx M3 and costs less, so there is no real case for the other one.

If water resistance matters to you, the JBL Boombox 4 at IP68 (extended submersion) holds up far better than the Diamondboxx M3 at no water resistance.

Pros: Pretty insane output capability for the size.

Cons: Pretty overpriced for the category. Better than the Boombox 3 mostly because there are more 7 EQ bands instead of just 3 and it can be better tuned. Try Oluv’s EQ for it. Out of the box sounds worse than the Boombox 3. No Aux input.
