The IK Multimedia iLoud MTM is discontinued; its replacement is the IK Multimedia iLoud MTM MKII.
The iLoud MTM’s included room correction mic is a genuine differentiator. Our notes describe it resolving specific room resonance peaks in testing, at 150Hz and 220Hz, making the midrange noticeably more lifelike. It’s also SPL-limited: significant bass loss by 96dB, and our notes recommend not exceeding about 86dB for extended listening.
The HS8 is the more straightforward, higher-headroom option. Described in our notes as good for mixing with a neutral output, its complaints are simpler: a slight midrange boost and a genuinely expensive price.
Buy the iLoud MTM if automated room correction and a compact desktop footprint matter more than raw output. Buy the HS8 if you want more headroom and a more conventional monitor without an SPL ceiling to manage around.
